Equality

Cumbria Police Authority is committed to the right of all individuals involved with or in receipt of a policing service to be treated with fairness, dignity and respect.  As part of this commitment, we promote equality and aim to eliminate discrimination and harassment both within the Authority and within Cumbria Constabulary.

We are working hard with the Constabulary to make sure that both of our organisations’ structures, decision-making processes, ways of working and methods of communication are non-discriminatory and that we promote equality of opportunity in every way.   You can view our Race Equality Scheme here the Disability Equality Scheme here and the Gender Equality Scheme here.

Our new Single Equality Scheme which will be in place until 2013 was approved by the Police Authority on 23 March 2010.   This is a live document and it would be really helpful to us if you could take the time to look at the Scheme and send us your comments so that we can be sure that it will help us to provide a fair and equitable serve to everyone.    Comments and suggestions can be sent to:

The Acting Chief Executive
Cumbria Police Authority
Police Authority Office
Carleton Hall
Penrith
Cumbria CA10 2AU or e-mail policeauthority@cumbria.police.uk

We also monitor the Constabulary’s Equality Schemes.

We have a duty to consider whether our policies might have an adverse impact on different groups of people.  For details of our equality impact assessments please contact us.
