Cumbria Police Authority want to hear your views
Cumbria Police Authority are trying out different ways to allow people to discuss policing issues in their area.
Kirkby Stephen Methodist Church was the setting for a coffee morning on Wednesday 21st April 2010, hosted by Cumbria Police Authority, inviting local people to attend and talk about issues within the Kirkby Stephen area. Chief Superintendant Don Spiller, and Inspector Lee Skelton were on hand to provide information on crime statistics and update on policing issues in general.
The Police Authority is responsible for making sure that Cumbria Constabulary is effective at fighting crime and provides value for money and are looking at different ways to enable people to voice their concerns.
Joke Maes, Police Authority Member, said: “We are using new approaches, to provide opportunities for local people to attend our Police Community Liaison Forums, the Police meetings, are usually held in the evening, and we have found that this is not convenient for everyone, the coffee morning, was well attended, and enabled us to discuss specific issues with local people, at a time and a place convenient to them.”
