New Treasurer for Cumbria Police Authority

Following an open national recruitment exercise Cumbria Police Authority has appointed a new Treasurer.  Ruth Hunter, who lives locally but currently works for Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, will take up the post in November when Douglas Thomas, the Authority's Treasurer since 2003, steps down.

Police Authority Chairman Ray Cole said: "Ruth was selected from a high quality field of candidates.  The interview panel were very impressed by her insight and understanding of the serious financial issues faced by the Police Authority and the public sector in general and I am very confident that she is the right person to guide us through the coming months and years.  I and all of the Authority's Members look forward to working with Ruth."

Ruth Hunter said: "I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the Authority's Members and the Chief Constable to address the challenges ahead.  The police service in Cumbria is rightly very highly regarded and I am honoured to be able to contribute to the benefit of the people of Cumbria."
