This section of the website is about the Authority's finances and how it monitors the Constabulary's performance. These are key areas of the Authority's activity and its core functions.
The Authority's main role is to secure the maintenance of an efficient and effective police service for Cumbria and to seek to improve police performance. To achieve this the Authority sets targets for the Constabulary, which are set out in the Policing Plan, provides the funding for the Constabulary to operate to meet those targets and then monitors its performance against them.
Please use the navigation bar to access the Finance & Audit, Best Value and Monitoring sections. The Police Authority will agree the budget for policing in Cumbria at their meeting to be held on 17 February 2010. The papers for discussion at this meeting will be published on the Meetings & Papers page of this site shortly before the meeting. If you would like to access the budget papers discussed by the Police Authority in February 2009 please go to the Meeting and Papers page and use the search facility.
