Governance is about how police authorities ensure that they are doing the right things, in the right way, for the right people, in a timely, inclusive, open and accountable manner.
The Code of Corporate Governance describes how the Cumbria Police Authority discharges its responsibilities in this respect, and particularly its two overarching statutory responsibilities:
The Chief Constable has an independent statutory responsibility for the control, direction and delivery of operational policing services.
