Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee has five members and is scheduled to meet four times a year.  Although, it may meet more frequently to deal with issues which arise during the course of the year.

In addition to routine personnel matters, this committee undertakes the arrangements for the appointment of the Constabulary’s Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable and Assistant Chief Constables.

The Committee is responsible for reviewing human resources, health and safety, staff welfare and training.   Quarterly data is provided relating to sickness levels, recruitment and retention and the establishment and strength for police officers, staff, special constables and police community support officers.   It also monitors the training function and business plan of the Constabulary and receives information relating to any Police Staff discipline and what action has been taken to identify any emerging trends.

The Personnel Committee deals with and monitors Police Authority recruitment such as Independent Members, Authority Officer and Independent Custody Visitors.
