Lynda has been an Independent Member of Cumbria Police Authority since April 2003. At first she was a member of the Policing Plan and Best Value Committee, the Consultation Working Group and became Chair of the then new Estates Working Group. Subsequent changes in the membership of the Police Authority and its configuration brought about membership of the Audit and Performance Committee.

Since 2007, she has held the position of Vice Chair of the Authority, and is Chair of the Governance Committee and Estates Working Group, alongside being an ex officio member of all of the Authority’s sub groups and committees. Lynda lives in Barrow and is Chair of Authority’s Barrow Community Liaison Forum. She is also a member of Barrow Crime and Disorder Partnership.

Previously, Lynda was a Member of Cumbria Probation Board for three years.  In the early part of her career she worked in finance, management accounts and internal audit; more recently since returning to work after taking time to care for a young family she has gained a first class degree in Education Studies with a specialism in Early Years. A qualified post-16 teacher and assessor, she works in the Voluntary Sector, specialising in volunteer management and work with children and families.
