Margaret Johnson lives in St Bees in West Cumbria and became an Independent Member of the Authority in April 2003. Margaret has a keen interest in Neighbourhood Policing. Amongst other roles for the Authority she sits on the Force Learning Panel and is the Police Authority representative on the North West Forensic Analytical Services Consortium.
She is a member of the Association of Dispensing Opticians and was Area Manager/Practice Manager for Boots Opticians, based in Nottingham, from 1984 to 1997, which was followed by a period in private practice. Margaret subsequently managed supported housing schemes which were owned by a charitable organisation. She is currently on the Area Committee for the North Cumbria Cooperative Society and has recently been appointed by the National Police Improvement Agency as an Assessor.
